British Fashion.... taking risks

I published this in my University newspaper.

Thought I'd post it up here with a few changes.

British Fashion - Taking Risks

Brits have always been renowned for having the most exciting avant-garde fashion available. From the likes of Vivienne Westwood to Gareth Pugh, our fashion designers are usually making the most cutting edge, stand-out pieces on the catwalk. Whereas New York, Paris, and Milan seem to stick to more traditionally 'beautiful' clothes.
The world has always looked to the UK for quirky and off the wall outfits, with many other designers crediting British fashion as one of their major influences.
With this in mind young British people should be taking as many risks with fashion while they can still get away with it. It seems to be however that many young students seem to stick to what they deem a 'safe' option. And so you see the same fashion being wheeled out day by day.
Young people should try find shops which are 'off the beaten track'. Try shop vintage shops, or smaller boutiques. Try not to just roll up at Topshop every time you need a new outfit.
Take a look at this seasons trends, which you may not be completely sure with. Give them a try anyway.
Be it the new wave of the 'Goth' look or the Witches of Eastwick style 'Pagan' look, everyone can find a style that suits their personality this winter.
Just because winter is approaching doesn't mean you have to resort to the good old jumper. You can layer any of these 'new' trends up and incorporate them into this season's wardrobe. If you think your outfit is a little bland you can always accessorize it and make yourself stand out a little more.
Don't get me wrong I'm not suggesting people should go out in anything they don't feel comfortable in. But now is the time to experiment and if it doesn't work out... so what! Try something new, you never know you may just find out you like being different from the masses.

I cried a thousand tears...

So today after uni I thought I'd pop into town to have a browse at the all new TKMAXX in Leeds. While rifling around the racks I found the most beautiful dress ever... but alas it was still £199 and I just couldn't afford it.
Behold the McQueen dress!

I know it doesn't look that good in this picture but it was extremely wonderful!

I shed a tear when I had to leave it behind...

The strapping you can see had gold embroidery across them, stunning!

So all I left the shop with was four pairs of tights, lovely ones, but just not McQueen!

My First Comment...

Came from the lovely lady over at Meet The Freak and has made me determined to carry on. So thanks lady for the encourgement!

So I went on abit of a spree today and got lots of lovely new things. I just can't keep hold of money for very long. I have picked up a peeve from todays outing though. What is with the sizing in shops? Why can't all shops make, for example, a 10 a 10 everywhere! Today I bought two dresses from the same a shop one in a 12 and one in a 10. Then went on to buy a t shirt from H&M in a size 16...... It gets me very annoyed. Your already taking too much into the changing rooms but then you have to take two of each size! Anyway rant over...

Lace.

I'm kind of loving this dress at the moment.
Although I have found some major problems with owning it.
First off the tan line I'm sporting on my back not the best look I've had. And second of all I had to go bra-less.
Not a major fashion crime of the century but when you have DD/E boobs like myself its never going to end very well.
Its not like I didn't even try to get some sort of backless effort but I got told by every mentionable high street shop that no where in fact does a backless bra of this size.
La Senza woman even sent me in with two sticky cups in a size C and said it should be fine. Well fine if you want 4 boob syndrome. Which I don't.
So here I am on my 20th birthday bra-less. And actually I must say it felt kind of liberating.
