Silver sequins...

So I went to see Lily Allen last night. You either love her or hate her. Personally I love her and I think her style has progressed immensely (except for her trainers in this picture ha ha). I love her silver sequin jacket in this picture and think she is wearing it just right. I have had a predicament of the silver sequin variety lately...
(Picture taken by me, ask permission to post)

... I purchased a sequin jacket at New Look a couple of weeks ago. As much as I love its flamboyant nature I haven't had the chance to wear it yet. The dilemma is what exactly to wear it with without looking like a magicians assistant.

So dear readers... I ask you what SHALL I wear it with? Ideas in form of comments would be greatly appreciated.

  5. I'm so jealous you got to see Lily Allen! When she came to Australia she didn't visit Adelaide so I missed out. Also very jealous you've found the perfect sequined clothing item. Definitely wear with black tights or black skinny jeans with killer ankle boots or maybe with a pattern shift for a missmatched look.

  6. I totally love Lily Allen and how she speaks her mind. Her new cd is amazing I'm so jealous you went.
As for the sequins, I would pair it with a nice tank (like Alex Wang or Kain) and some black cigarette trousers. xo

  9. Awesome jacket.

I can't quite figure Lily Allen out. I haven't quite decided if she's really clever and hilarious or just a spoilt little bitch. She definitely wears some fabulous clothes, though (minus the trainers, of course!).

Jacket would look aweseome with plain fitted short black dress.

I think you need to keep it simple.

  11. I love that sequin blazer!!! SO adorable!

I kinda like lily Allen...well I like her songs but not really her personnaly. I do think however that she's become a way better dresser. But I also gotta say that the shoes do nothing for her legs...lol. Her blazer and skirt are amazing!!

  12. i'd wear it with a black bottom and simple white top - from there it's up to your style. black skinnies + white boyfriend tank, or black leather skirt + baggy white tee....simple pieces, especially if you want to bust that fabulousness out during the day. =]

  15. you could....

wear it over a wifebeater and slim jeans...
    wear it with mens' trousers...
wear it over a floaty (but simple!) short dress...

the list goes on and on! Sequins are great for any occasion!

  16. I love this jacket! I would definitely go subdued with the rest of the outfit--cigarette pants for sure (since the jacket has a more boxy fit) and maybe a simple white or black tank. I'm sure you'll look amazing in it :-)

  20. Love the sequin jacket, good for you for taking a risk!
I would wear it with leggings a hot leather boots with a simple long-ish tank underneath...preferably a neutral tone so your jacket is the highlight of the outfit!
Oh and a coloured clutch for a pop!

  25. I'd wear that with a fresh looking and super simple white top and maybe with dark grey skinny jeans, that are little bit worn out looking, to make it look like more relaxed and cool. and a very simple shoes(black, high heels are ok if they're REALLY SIMPLE) and bag!
that jacket is fantastic but everything that you wear needs to be so "natural" and a little bit baggy somehow, or you might end up feeling completely over-dressed and not cool...i've made that mistake once with my sequin shirt from the 80's which is quite similiar with this jacket:D.

  26. I just stumbled upon your blog, and find you saw Lily Allen that is amazing. Lily Allen does have a way of starting her own fashion trends (in a way- not 100%). Nice to hear you found your own sequin jacket, you should wear it with the black leggings.
