The booby debate...

I've had quite sulk on with Topshop lately. The dress on the right of the picture has under wired cups inside the top of the dress. Having seen this dress at the front of my local Topshop I immediately knew I had to try it on for size. The print had two of my favourite things going on: floral AND skulls... great combo? Finally slipping the dress on I was disheartened to find that even though I had picked up a size 12 to fit in chest region the cup size was no bigger (it seemed) than a the size 6.
Oh Topshop why must you do this to me? I don't understand the designers logic behind making the cup sizes exactly the same. Why can't they compromise by making the same style dress without the 'booby bits.' (this is how I described them to the manager of my local Topshop.)
I was pleased however to find the same design on a different style of top, but this means I have to wear something more floaty. Whats wrong with wanting something fitted?
Have any of you had the same problem? Clothes only meant for one type of body....?

Fashion... a thought...

When people ask me why I want to be a fashion journalist there is always one simple answer.

I just love fashion. I love the look, the feel, the emotion and the drama of it all. It tends to annoy me when people roll their eyes at my preferred career choice. The fashion industry is a multi -billion dollar industry, if there wasn't a fashion industry we'd be in an even worse economic situation than we are now.

Many people don't understand how the purchase of something of quality and style can give you that happy feeling inside. The pride of owning that item you have coveted for so long is massive. My lecturer said to me how she hates that whole attitude of 'oh women nowadays think that everything can be solved with a pair of shoes.' Well, it can. No, no not in the sense that all your problems will disappear but like I said before it can give you a sense of glowing pride.

Lets look at the wonderful Jane from Sea Of Shoes. She sees nothing wrong with owning those beautiful shoes but she also doesn't have her head in the clouds either.

(Jane from Sea Of Shoes)

That's another thing I'd like to air my views about is how people think people in fashion are often airheads with no real opinion on anything 'important' in the world. This really annoys me. I'm doing a BA Honors in Journalism. And no I don't want to go into hard hitting news, I don't want to go to war torn countries and report on the tragedies. I truly admire those journalists and think their work is both groundbreaking and thought provoking. But this is simply not how I work. I love art, culture, music and fashion. So why not do what I care about the most in the world?
I guess what I'm trying to say with this post is; I believe in fashion it brings people together much like music. It can bond people in a group, it make you and individual or if you prefer you can blend in with the rest. No doubt about it fashion is life.

Speaking to my fellow fashion lovers and readers here... what do you love about fashion? And what annoys you most about people's attitudes towards it?

Can I just say wow !!!!!!! ........

Denim throw back.

I got this shirt the other day from Topshop. I'm really loving the grunge revival, which basically means I can sling this on over a band tee and go. Don't get me wrong I love dressing up but some days you need an effortless look which doesn't take much thought. This is mine.
Whats yours?

Crazy Leggings

Just a Uni outfit. I look very angry here, I apologise. Let's focus on my leggings. I'm loving wearing different leggings at the moment, they always brighten up any outfit. Don't you think? I wore my new jacket from Topshop; it's a really soft jersey material. Ideal for this weather at the moment which is neither warm or incredibly cold.
I'm running out of places to pose in front of. I always forget to ask my friends when I'm with them to snap my outfits. But I will try to improve the backdrops I promise!

Hiatus

So I've been rather ill and preoccupied with uni recently. But I'm going to try and blog more often from now on.
For me its hard to find the time to get a post together that seems different. Other bloggers seem to have a foot in the door of the fashion industry, something unusual about them or a great photographer to take pictures for them.
I don't want to get lost in a sea of blogs I actually want people to read it. And I know I have to put the time in to make this happen.
But I question posting certain things as it may not be seen as that different and interesting.
Do any other bloggers feel my pain?
