Coco Rooms Leeds

03/03/2010

I haven’t caught up with my fashion week stuff on here just yet. I’m going to have to do a nice big bumper post very soon.

Before all that though; I went down to Coco Rooms in Leeds (Behind the Corn Exchange) today to speak to the very lovely owner Gaynor. Coco Rooms is a dress agency and style lounge with a difference. They sell beautiful high end clothes at a fraction of the price. All these clothes have come from members of the public and are either new or partially worn. The original owners receive a cut of the profit when the garment is sold. However if it does not sell within three months the garment can be picked up again or it can be donated to charity.

Upstairs is a fabulous style lounge where you can get advice on what clothes suit your shape, what colours you should avoid and just general help on making the most of your wardrobe.

I loved the whole idea of the shop, as it is encouraging people to use clothes which still have years in them. Much like Vivienne Westwood, Gaynor feels that you should save up for that special piece instead of spending money on throw away fashion. I think we all need to take this advice on board and buy things that will last!
