Inspiration...

All of us are constantly searching for inspiration in our lives. At this moment in time I find my inspiration everywhere, whether it be an image, a song, a person or an object. Its really tough at the moment to think about anything else other than deadlines. But I am going to post some images that inspire me and maybe they'll inspire you too.

What inspires you?

Getting excited about paper...

I'm sorry for my lack of updates, I am currently slaving away over many an essay and my dissertation. Trying to chase down people to speak to me is proving difficult... so if you work at a magazine please drop me a line? Thanks.

Anyway, on my way to work today I stop at W H Smith to admittedly pick up a Twirl but came across the first issue of The Gentlewoman. This new magazine comes from the makers of Fantastic Man. I first heard murmurings of this magazine over at Style Bubble, where she expressed her excitement for this new magazine. I have to say the paper is actually amazing. If you like that kind of thing, and I do. My friends often laugh at the fact I stroke magazines affectionately like its some kind of pet. But I do get excited over a good quality paper. And I wasn't disappointed by The Gentlewoman.

Excuse the rubbish pictures, the orange hue comes from a heater in my bedroom. But you get the general idea of its awesome content.

I love this feature on hair buns and all the different styles you can have. I am apposed to up-dos as mostly I feel I look boyish with my hair up. However I will be trying a few of these.

I love this editorial on shorts for long and short legs alike. It shows how there are styles to suit every woman.

I think that any fashion fan needs to pick up this magazine! It has so many inspirational woman inside the pages. It will be be on my list of to buy mags from now on.

Paris Fashion Week...

So I seem to have missed out Milan altogether. I did love Prada but Milan never seems to be my cup of tea. So I say onwards and upwards and lets see what Paris has had to offer.

VICTOR & ROLF

Yes kids. More black, oh how I love it. I loved the structured shapes at Victor & Rolf; some were classic with a bit of an edge and some were out of this world (the one on the far right). A big feature of the collection for me were the coats, the black one above drapes beautifully across the models body. Also the 'little black dress' was done here; but as always with Victor & Rolf the detail really makes the piece.

ANN DEMEULEMEESTER

The colours at Demeulemeester were amazing, I love how she used muted and dark colours but then a pop of colour to bring the collection to life. The long maxi skirts were simple devine, and I love how they were given a different egde (like the one in the red above) and cut up the calf area. The statment feather jackets have to be my favourite piece though.

CHRISTIAN DIOR

I really loved this collection and although it reminded me of what John Galliano does in his own collection. However I did really like this collection it was sexy and feminine but with an edge. The thigh high boots are simply amazing. If only I had the money, those beauties would deffinatley be mine! I have to stick to me Topshop ones for now, which reminds me I HAVE to dig them out and give them their proper wear.

NINA RICCI
I really liked this collection as it was really feminine and I don't think it was trying to be anything else. Where we've had a season with studs and hard leather; this brought a pleasant change and reminded us that its ok to through on a skirt and a pair of killer heels and shake what your mama gave you.

Coco Rooms Leeds

I haven't caught up with my fashion week stuff on here just yet. I'm going to have to do a nice big bumper post very soon.

Before all that though; I went down to Coco Rooms in Leeds (Behind the Corn Exchange) today to speak to the very lovely owner Gaynor. Coco Rooms is a dress agency and style lounge with a difference. They sell beautiful high end clothes at a fraction of the price. All these clothes have come from members of the public and are either new or partially worn. The original owners receive a cut of the profit when the garment is sold. However if it does not sell within three months the garment can be picked up again or it can be donated to charity.

Upstairs is a fabulous style lounge where you can get advice on what clothes suit your shape, what colours you should avoid and just general help on making the most of your wardrobe.

I loved the whole idea of the shop, as it is encouraging people to use clothes which still have years in them. Much like Vivienne Westwood, Gaynor feels that you should save up for that special piece instead of spending money on throw away fashion. I think we all need to take this advice on board and buy things that will last!
