Dark colours and vibes from the house of Givenchy. It seemed to be all about the details and layering up different pieces. I’m really loving the long leather gloves – think I might be rocking these come next autumn/winter. The collection to me had a touch of the Anna Sui about it – the rich reds and purples bringing life into the clothes. I can see many editors weraring these pieces off the catwalk.
Sarah Burton has managed to continue the drama and intrigue that the house of McQueen has always been known for – while also managing to put her stamp on it. Much of the collection focused on the exaggerated bottom half of the clothes – something many women can shy away from. However I think Burton pulled it off beautifully. If you can, take a look at the shoes in close up – crazy hoof like details and embellished heels.
Creative director Nicola Formichetti and head of womenswear Sebastien Peigne produced an extremely structured collection for their AW12 show. Shedding the celebrity help of Lady GaGa, it was easier to pay closer attention to the clothes for what they are. I loved the form fitting pieces and the use of croc patent leather. The black and white dress has to be my favourite look from the entire collection – it looks to me like it would be an extremely flattering dress. Lady GaGa has probably already got the entire collection on hold.
