London Fashion Week SS13: Glam Suite

glam suite

While at fashion week the lovely people at Glam UK supplied us bloggers with a wonderful hotel suite to kick back in, in-between shows. There were snacks, drinks and champers a plenty.  The lovely ladies from Rimmel were also there to provide make-up advice and a lovely manicure. It was really nice to have somewhere to relax and somewhere to catch up with other bloggers. The lovely Roxanne interviewed me for the Glam site - you can read it here
All the bloggers who went to the Glam Suite got an amazing Rimmel goodie bag which was a lovely surprise. If you would like me to review any of the products just leave a comment and I'll get right to it. I must say I love the match foundation - I've had quite a few compliments on my skin when I'm wearing it, which is great for someone like me who has trouble with their skin.

I didn't want to bombard you with a picture heavy post last time so I thought I split my street style into two posts. The first lady here looked so incredibly fierce - I wish I had got a full length but she was getting snapped left right and centre, so thought I'd let her rush off to her show. I love the pink silk shirt and patterned trousers the second lady has on - the shoes are a surprising edition to this outfit which really makes it special. The third lady looks awesome in this rottweiler t-shirt teamed with a skinny bleach jean - this is pretty much my uniform from day to day. The last shot is of the lovely Hannah from London Rose. Those legs really do go on forever, her vintage kimono looks awesome teamed with her short shorts.

What I Wore: Birthday Edition

It was my birthday last week - I had so much London Fashion Week content I thought I'd wait to share this outfit. I went out for a meal and wanted to wear something low-key. I'm loving my hair like this at the moment - I needed to have another style as I always tend to wear my hair the same. I love this dress from Topshop, it has PVC detailing on the neckline and on the zipper at the back. I teamed it up with this clutch bag my boyfriend bought me for my birthday - he knows me so well, anything with a skull and I'm sold. I picked up the three-ring-ring (phew) from Forever 21 when I was down in London, it's really simple but I think they look cool. I bought these studded slippers from Topshop while I was in London too - these are something I team with all kinds of outfits.

While at Somerset House I am always on the look out for stylish folk - this season people had style coming out of their ears. I loved the simplicity of the first girls outfit, the shirt and jumper combination is something I'll be rocking this autumn/winter. The second girl looked a vision in cream and white hues. I am really into this laid back but utterly stylish look. The third lovely lady is wearing the key accessory this autumn/winter - the beanie. Her see-through clutch was awesome too - the lovely Isaias had something similar which he made himself. Might need him to knock me one up fast. The last lady I assume was a model because she is simply stunning. She was working the pajama trend like no one  else. Teamed with white heels, this look is perfection.

London Fashion Week SS13: Caroline Charles

I didn't get the best pictures at Caroline Charles so I only just put a couple in the post. The show was a little schizophrenic - the beginning started with a colourful array of swimwear. This then led on to a more feminine gothic collection with a Great Gatsby vibe. I was loving the crucifix belt that was wrapped around the models waist - it would add edge to any outfit. The silk maxi skirts and trousers are the perfect edition to any wardrobe - so easy to dress up or down. The jeweled jacket looked amazing on the catwalk - dazzling under the lights at the fashion tent. The lace trousers are something I would like to be rocking next spring/summer - paired with a slouchy t-shirt and heels, perfect for the Spring weather.

| Trousers, Reiss via TK Maxx | High-tops, River Island |

Here is what I wore on day two of fashion week - I love my Kooples t-shirt it's such an eye-catching print. I actually bought these Reiss silk trousers from TK Maxx a bargain at £30, I love finding things like that for a fraction of the price. My feet were hurting quite a bit so I had to stick to the concealed wedge high-tops from River Island. I bought this leather biker vest from Forever 21 while I was in London, I thought it added an extra texture to the outfit and kept me a little bit warmer. Although being from up' north I thought it was pretty warm while the locals were in their coats. These pictures were taken by the lovely Hannah from London Rose, on the ever glamorous Kavita from She Wears Fashion's camera.
Here is a close up of my make-up from when I visited the MAC press lounge. I love this ombre lip - would this be something you lovely readers would be interested in seeing a tutorial on?

London Fashion Week SS13: Manuela Dack SS13

I was lucky enough to get to see the Manuela Dack presentation at Vauxhall Fashion Scout. Manuela has been taught by the likes of Marios Schwab and Ben Kirchhoff - she also has worked with Alexander Wang. All this experience added up to a very polished collection. Her Caribbean roots were apparent in this collection with traditional palm weaving with a modern twist. I loved the clean feel to the whole collection but also picked up on a relaxed vibe which no doubt comes from its Caribbean connection. The make-up and hair with natural with a hint of 'I don't care' - the kind of look that doesn't take long to achieve but looks oh so good.

I focused in on the detail - I loved the beading on this kimono style dress. All the ladies were decked out in jelly shoes - if you're a child of the nineties you'll remember these. I loved the detail of the sparkly heel, I think I will be getting myself a pair of these next spring/summer. The top above also had some really gorgeous detail which turns what could be a plain slouch top into something a little more special.

London Fashion Week SS13: MAC Press Lounge

I was lucky enough to be able to visit the MAC Press Lounge while I was at fashion week - I had my make-up done by the lovely Zahra, who is product specialist at Selfridges. Zahra asked what I wanted to focus on - my lips. I have seen a lot of cool ombre lip looks in magazines and on models and I wanted to know how it was done. It was a such a lovely experience and Zahra really knows her stuff. She makes everyone look a million dollars - I got so many compliments after being in the make-up chair. I'll have some pictures of the make-up up close in my outfit post tomorrow but here is my finished make-up look:

I was lucky enough to be given a bag of goodies from MAC. I received two gorgeous lipsticks - Lady Danger and Dark side which are going to help me in the quest to recreate this ombre lip look. I also received an eye kohl in Teddy, MAC prep and prime transparent finishing powder and a Matchmaster foundation. I feel extremely spoilt and have some lovely new make-up to play around with.

So London Fashion week is off to a flying start - thought I'd post up my outfit from day two. I actually don't know if I have a picture from day one - if anyone has one please send it over. I met the lovely Tom (pictured above) who was wearing an awesome design by Isaias Ponce  - spent the day with there lovely people, so a big shout out to them. Fashion week is hectic as usual but I should have lots of exciting posts to go up through out next week.
I find being at my second fashion week a little surreal - when I'm sat waiting for a show to begin i have to pinch myself as this is something that I've always wanted to do. I have to give myself some kudos for actually getting my act together and getting myself there.

Review and Event: The Body Shop and Kirkgate Centre

the body shop

I was kindly gifted these 3 items from The Body Shop as part of the lead up to the Student Lock-In at the Kirkgate Centre in Bradford - you can find all the information on their Facebook page here.  I will be there on the night offering styling advice for those on the hunt for some bargains, aswell as talking about key trends for AW12. I thought it was important to support local shops, many people know Bradford has been on the decline for years and an event like this is just the boost it needs. All the shops will be offering discounts and prizes on the night so it is defiantly worth going down.
First off the the new Vineyard Body Butter in Peach smells absolutely divine - I put it on after showering to lock in moisture. It's great for places that are prone to dry patches, like elbows or knees.  I found it is also a great pre-tan product.
Next up I was also given their new BB Cream. I have to say despite the hype on BB Cream's I haven't tried one for myself. I thought that it wouldn't really give any real coverage and lately I have had such spot prone skin that I've need something that can really even out my skin tone. I have to say though I was really impressed with The Body Shop's offering. It comes out white and as you rub it in it changes to match your skin - genius!  I got mine in shade 1 - but they also do shades 2 and 3. I can't believe the coverage it gives - I will be using this on my good skin days as a break from my normal foundation.
I finished off my look with this Bronzer in the shade warm glow - it gives your skin a natural glow without being too 'cakey.' Nothing worse than a bronzer that makes you look like you need a good wash. I hope you agree that it looks pretty natural. From the picture below you can see the look I achieved - you can just about see my acne scars but I was pleased with the results.
Have you tried any of these products? what were your thoughts?

Fashion In Music: Rita Ora

rita ora fashion

It is a known fact that I am sucker for a good pop song and Rita Ora certainly delivers that. I think now her fashion is just as notorious as her music - this is a lady who isn't afraid to take risks. I thought I'd put together a little Rita inspired outfit. You won't see her anywhere without a slick of red lipstick, I love these ones from Nars which have true staying power. She isn't afraid to bare a little flesh, so this barlet from Topshop and shorts from Missguided were the perfect combination. I love the range of shorts available on the Missguided website - if you've got the legs, flaunt them. Of course Rita loves a good beanie - there are plenty available on the high street. This one from ASOS comes in a range of different colours. I got mine from Topman - the male version tends to be a tad cheaper than one you'd in the women's section.

Needed to share this picture of Rita Ora sporting my good friend Mary Benson's jacket - how awesome?

Review: New York Fashion Week SS13

alexanderwang ss13
Being the darling of New York, Alexander Wang has a lot to live up to every season. His SS13 collection did not disappoint - although with many of his collections my eyes are drawn to the shoes. I need to get myself a pair of these sandals, that band at the top of the leg adds a little something extra. I expect to see many a knock of next Spring/Summer. He always does leather with the upmost craftsmanship - I loved this cut out dress.

herveleger ss13
Although not usually a collection I would go out of my way to look through this season Herve Leger by Max Azria really displayed why they a firm red carpet favourite. The last blue dress has to be my pick of the whole collection - the intricate pattern and leather detail made it a little something more than just a dress. I think any woman could find a dress to suit her from this collection - now if I just had a spare grand lying around.

rebecca taylor ss13
It is always nice to see a truly wearable collection - so often designers make pieces which are only really for the catwalk or the extremely brave. Rebecca Taylor's denim waistcoats and embellished dresses would be a perfect outfit for Spring/Summer - with an almost whimsical vibe I expect this collection will be a firm favourite among many bloggers. It seems the bejewelled collar isn't going anywhere for now.

Review: Blogger Planner from Personal Planners

personalplanner personalplanner

In my the goodie bag from Leeds Blogger Meet Up was something I was really excited about, a voucher for a blog planner from Personal Planner. I always have good intentions of writing things down and planning my posts out. Often though I forget - ideas I think of through the day get lost. Well this will happen no more, now I have this shiny new planner to write all my ideas and schedules in I won't have an excuse but to keep on top of all things blog related.
I'd really recommend getting one to organize any part of your life - this would be perfect for University or college.

Fashion In Film: Romy and Michele's High School Reunion

Click on the number to see the product

So I seem to be covering a plethora of  my favourite girl films - I'm not usually one for a rom com mind you, I prefer a girls film where the fashion is fierce and the message is clear. After discussing the film with a friend from work, I decided it deserved a blogpost all of its own. Romy and Michele have an array of crazy looks through out the film but my favourite has to be these Madonna themed prom dresses. This is another film that's so bad it's good.
I have being reading everywhere that the gothic cross will be in for Autumn/Winter - this necklace from ASOS is perfect to tap into the trend. It also channels the Madonna vibe. Team this up with bralet top and lace skirt and you are ready to do your best 'vogue.'

What would you like to see here next month?

How To Style: A Concealed Wedge

I thought I would do a little post with some ideas on how to style the concealed high-top trainer. I have seen them all over the high street. I wish I could afford the Isabel Marant real deal - alas I have to make do with what the high street has to offer. I've got to mention these Impress nails which I received in the goodie bag from the blogger meet up. I didn't have time to paint my nails last night before I went out, so I stuck these on in about 10 minutes. Well I have to admit after a night out I thought I'd have a couple missing by the morning but to my surprise they are still intact and don't seem to be budging. I'd recommend them if you need a quick nail fix or if your a nail newbie. By the way how nice is this skull bracelet from Aurora Vintage?
I've been really loving these high-tops from River Island - I feel like my style is evolving a little bit, as these aren't something I would normally choose. I think they look great teamed with a skinny pant - the american apparel disco pants do the trick here. I can't believe how expensive the disco pants are now, I thought they were expensive when I bought them a year and half ago, but now its madness! I bought this dimmed hem top from River Island the other week. I love anything with a nod to skeletons and this top ticked those boxes. I think it would look equally good teamed with a skirt and killer heels for a night out. I'm wearing my Revlon Just Bitten in Crush - which I featured in my favourites earlier in the week.

howtostyle howtostyle

I picked up this studded vest in a shop in Halifax called Coco Boo - they seem to stock lots of items from Glamorous. It was nice to find somewhere stocking trendy pieces outside of the city centre, I think I'll be taking a trip back very soon. I love the studded shoulders, I picked this because the studs seemed extremely sturdy. Since the embellished look has been really in, I have found more and more cheap looking studs on the high street which I believe would just blow off your top in a light breeze.
I styled this up with a pair of skinny leather trousers and of course the high-tops. I think this is a great look for during the day - something to run around in when I'm busy but showing off my style at the same time. I also teamed the outfit with this skeleton finger ring from Topshop - this piece is always a conversation starter.
