For the longest time I have walked past the building site that was Trinity Leeds – it always seemed like the opening event was far off in the future. So it was weird when today I headed down to the opening of Trinity Leeds – I had a sneaky look round before the public were allowed in. I am pleased to say I was incredibly impressed – the sculptures by Andy Scott are a sight to behold. I must say the horse is a favourite feature of mine. With 46 new brands coming to Leeds for the first time, Trinity Leeds is the shopping destination of the North. There are still many more shops to open in the coming months but many have already opened. Everyman cinema opens its doors next month which will give cinema lovers a whole new experience.
The opening event for the public – first happening at half ten, was orchestrated by Henry Holland. The box displayed a countdown to the main event. We first saw dancers and then the amazing former Cirque De Soleil principal artist Colette Morrow emerged wearing a Henry Holland design embellished with Swarovski crystals. She then ascended from the box to reveal the amazing 15 metre long dress – also designed by Henry Holland. It was lovely to see a great British designer supporting the British High Street by creating the spectacle.
I’m really excited to go back and try out some of the new bars and restaurants – oh and of course to hit the shops!
