Last Thursday I was invited down to see Leeds College of Art’s BA (Hons) Fashion Show. I was really excited to see some of the locally nurtured talent. I’ve never actually been to a student show in my area – having been to London Fashion Week for three seasons now I kind of know what to look out for. After the initial look, I tend to then try a look at the finish of the garments. I have to say I was impressed with the quality some of the students were sending out. I liked to pick out detail shots too – like the sheer panel in the white skirt above.
I put some of my favourite looks above. First picture is a friend of mine David Ross’ collection. It had a masculine feel but still managed to be a collection most women would love in their wardrobes. I love the American jersey style dress – it cemented his brand perfectly and is so on point.
I have added in a couple of shots from collections that I liked – there were thirty showing in total. I tried to take note of those collections that stood out the most for me because of the sheer amount of looks.
The first stand out collection for me was Rosie Hodgson’s Anima – you can see her red and pink digital print suit above. As I saw the model coming towards I thought ‘I want to wear that.’ This is something that if I saw hanging in a shop I’d just have to try it on. The finish and the styling was spot on too.
Jes Coates’ Chroma by Jes Fox was an awesome collection. The last image above is one of my favourite looks. The flowing split maxi was stunning, the deep blue hues really caught my eye and the way the fabric moved as the model walked made it even more stunning. I want to wear this right now with a silk camisole.
