This cult 1980’s high-school movie is full of great fashion moments. This is definitely the ‘clueless’ of the the 80’s – with murder. The main character, played by Winona Ryder, tries to be part of the ‘in-crowd’ but when she meets J.D (played by Christian Slater) her life takes a different course. Sick of following around the popular girls she and J.D actually end up murdering the leader of the clique and cover it as a suicide.
The 1980’s were known for the bold fashions. The scrunchie plays a big part in this movie when Heather Duke (played by Shannen Doherty) wears her ex-rivals red scrunchie to show how she is now the most powerful member of the group. I’d really recommend it if you haven’t already seen it. I thought I’d bring Winona’s outfit a little up to date. She wears the crop top and frilled skirt on many of the film promos. I picked out this Topshop lace crop top as a dead ringer with a more modern twist. I teamed it up with this textured skater skirt from River Island in this gorgeous deep blue. Finally, we can’t forget that scrunchie. American Apparel does them in a million colours so you can always pick one out to match up with your outfit.
