As you know I want to cover men's fashion more than I have in the post. Well last week I went down to the London Collections Men's event held at Harvey Nichols - Paula Reed (ex-Grazia) who is Harvey Nichols' Fashion Director was there to present all of the designers. Casely-Hayford, James Long, Katie Eary, Lou Dalton, Mr Hare (who was stuck in Hong Kong) and Bernstock Speirs - all have a sample of their collections in Harvey Nichols stores now.
I was lucky enough to interview a few of the designers- I'm just in the process of putting the video together with some snippets from the interviews. There were some really interesting stories behind their designs. Casely-Hayford told me that his collection was inspired by 90's hip-hop - but he gave his collection the 'English-touch' with more tailoring.
I'm excited to hear that London Collections is now a big deal on the fashion map and is drawing many menswear designers back to London. I took a few snaps of the collections - I was really into the printed pieces and the sportswear inspired jackets. James Long's leather pieces had some great craftsmanship - these are the kinds of items that men should be investing. Everyone needs a good leather jacket.
