London Fashion Week: Ashish SS14Monday, 16 September 2013
I was kindly invited down for the second season to see the brilliant Ashish. Unfortunately with having holiday recently I was unable to get the time off work to go to London Fashion - although I am here today with work at Fashion Monitor's Style Lounge. I loved the silver wristband that was sent out as his invite.
I did keep up to date with all the LFW happenings on Twitter, Instagram and Style.com though. I saw pictures of the collection through the eyes of others and knew I was going to love it. The use of popular culture in his collections is always something I'm a big fan of. This collection references one of the most famous brands in the world - Coca Cola. I love the way he has twisted the traditional t-shirt and jeans look - jeans in complete sequins anyone? I love the 'plastic bag' made from sequins too. This collection was all about celebrating how multicultural London is - these girls have just popped to the corner shop in the outfit from the night before. This is what Ashish does well, tapping into what is happening on the streets but bringing a sense of glamour to it.
I know that he will continue to go from strength to strength - I can't wait for February already.
