Spring 2014 Couture: Atelier Versace

Spring 2014 Couture- Atelier Versace

It’s that time of year again where I ooh and ahhh over clothes which I will never be able to afford. In fact not many people will ever wear couture but I think its that very idea that draws me to it. Marveling at the design and hours of work that have gone into creating these masterpieces inspires me.
Dontella created a really interesting collection – obviously inspired by the fabulous Graces Jones? These were power suits with a twist. No matter what Dontella creates it always has that sexy allure, bare legs and a flash of cleavage is what we have come to expect. There were other peaks of flesh that came in the form of a cut-out back or a bare shoulder.
My favourite look had to be the black dress in the middle – so much sex appeal while still retaining the glamor. This will be a red carpet look pretty soon, I’m sure of it. I especially loved the intricate patterns laid out with crystals almost mimicking a tribal tattoo. Some of the looks also had a warrior feel about them, picking up on the theme of the empowered woman. Bracelets that came up to the elbows, jackets made of structured leather and chainmail-like head dresses.
Of course the fact Lady Gaga was sat front row only adds to the media frenzy surrounding this show. This collection is for the strong woman who isn’t afraid to show off what shes got. I think this collection could be a big winner for the A-list with the up-coming awards season ahead.
