In The Spotlight: Clements RibeiroTuesday, 3 June 2014
Every now and again a press release lands in my inbox and I sit up and take notice. We can't help but get swept up in a little World Cup fever with the abundance of tropical prints on the high street. I've seen so much now nothing has really caught my eye until now.
Clements Ribeiro has created a SS14 collection full of the essence of the carnival. The whole collection invokes a sense of 'really cool tourist.' The designers were inspired by 30's-40's butterfly trays from Rio. My favourite ensemble has to be the two piece fern print set, I'd love to wear this in summer with bare legs and some gladiator sandals.
The ruffled pencil skirts and Bermuda shorts are the perfect pieces for summer and really give you a flavour of Brazil. I have to say I'd like to pick up some Bermuda shorts, they are something a little different and great for everyday wear, instead of wearing really 'short shorts.' They look great with a simple t-shirt and some sandals.
How are you getting in the carnival spirit?
