London Fashion Week: Bora Aksu SS15Tuesday, 16 September 2014
My first show on Friday was Bora Aksu, I always enjoy his show but with it being in the BFC show space I'm usually standing. I don't end up with the best pictures so I thought I'd add a little video in too so you get more of an idea of what the collection was like.
This collection was entitled 'Dancer With Wings' and was based around the life of ballet dancer Marie Taglioni. Although she enjoyed success as a ballet dancer her personal life was troubled and the collection mirrored this. The start saw a collection of models gather at the start of the runway around a group of chairs - this appeared to be the 'light' section, maybe mirroring her ballet success. The 'second act' had splashes of violet, blue and black. Showing the darker side to her life. The violet look complete with veil was magical!
Mesh panels and crochet details made up a lot of this collection. I have to say sheer paneling seems like it's going to be big for SS15. Of course he brought tulle to the mix, whats a ballerina without her tutu? A truly captivating collection from start to finish.
