New York Fashion Week: First Round-upMonday, 8 September 2014
It's that time again - fashion month. My blog is pretty much taken over with a feed of all things fashion, so if you like that kind of thing stick around! I'll be at London Fashion Week from Friday so expect to see a whole lot of content.
I always have my eye on the Alexander Wang show - his mix of street style with luxe fabrics really captures my imagination. His last collection wasn't nearly as feminine as this one, body-con dresses with prints were one of my favourite looks. What also drew me to this collection is it's wearability, the looks may not be something you'd pop to the shops in but split them up and you have totally wearable separates. Alexander knows how to create a must-have heel for the season but he also shone a light on the hero of the year, the trainer. Having a major moment with the fashion pack due to the new found popularity of New Balance. Style.com even called the high-waisted trouser with slinky tee the 'defining silhouette of the season.'
On to Victoria Beckham, who knew this ex-spice girl would be embraced with open arms by the fashion world. Her collections go from strength to strength. Again she created a very functional wardrobe for her clientele, some might say this collection has taken a more 'grown-up' direction than that of her previous. The chunky knits with lace-up details brought something new to the table, the slight turtle neck will probably be all over the high street in the not too distant future. The hero piece for me though had to be the white pointed brogues with pink floral embroidery. This is the year of the flat after all!
