Before I went to London Fashion Week I was asked to attend the St Leger Races Ladies day, it just so happened that it was on the day I was traveling south and so unfortunately I was unable to go. I did receive a survival kit though, maybe I can save it for next time?
The lovely ladies who attended looked like they had a fabulous day. It got me thinking, what would I wear to an occasion like this. I guess it gives you the perfect excuse to dress up. I haven’t ever attend anything like this before but after seeing the pictures it seems like a time to do your best peacock impression and pull out all the stops.
Lace always makes you feel a little more lady like. I fell in love with this red lace dress by ba&sh for La Redoute. The ba&sh collection is really simply classic pieces that women want in their wardrobes, the kind of classics that you will cherish for years. I thought the open back added a little bit of drama that the races call for. I think it was the movement of the full skirt that caught my attention with this piece.
I couldn’t ever be too formal, even for an event like this. I have to add a little bit of fun to my outfit. This comes in the form of these fun clutches from New Look. I fell in love with them after seeing the beautiful Betty wearing the burger one at London Fashion Week. They are a great talking point and I’m not one for a fascinator so these can be my ‘out there’ piece.
Lastly a good pair of chunky black heels, like these ones from ASOS, will see you through the day. You need to get a comfy pair of heels for all that standing and jumping up and down when you win! I liked these ones because they had such a stable heel and an ankle strap for support.
