London Fashion Week: Ong-Oaj Pairam AW15Tuesday, 24 February 2015
The Ong-Oaj Pairam invite always catches my eye every time it arrives. This season was no different, the invite was a scratch and sniff journey for the senses. The scents from the invite filled the room as we entered to take our seats. The collection itself was full on glamour, the hair and make-up was old hollywood inspired.
The embroidered pieces were definitely my favourite - interestingly the same techniques that are used to make military garments were used for the embroidery. As celebrity culture was such a massive influence for this collection, you can see the 'animal caught in the headlights' pattern on lots of the pieces. Maybe a little commentary on todays celebrity culture and the flash of the paparazzi bulbs? The animal itself looked like a little bushbaby with wide eyes, clinging to the garments. The belted outerwear were the heroes of the collection for me - still showing the 70s will be strong for Autumn/Winter 2015. I'm pleased to see more faux fur too, adding edge to a formal outfit.
