Live at Leeds 2016

Live at Leeds 2016
At the weekend I was invited to Live at Leeds by the lovely guys at Zeitgeist and The Blogger Programme. Even though this was the 10th year of Live at Leeds, this is the first time I've actually attended. How crazy is that?
There is something about attending a festival, the sense of community that surrounds seeing your favourite band is something I really enjoy. Ever been to a gig, looked around and seen everyone else staring to the front and singing every single word? For a moment you are one of the same, that's what I like about music it brings everyone together. I thought I'd share a few snap shots from my day and tell you all why I love city festivals. I didn't get THE best pictures in the world but the day wasn't about that. You get the real deal here.
Now I am NOT camper. Call me a diva but at the ripe old age of 27 I don't find sleeping in a tent in the middle of a field with lots of other people particularly inviting. That's why city based festival like Live at Leeds are the perfect place to soak up the atmosphere, have a drink with friends and see some amazing bands. Oh and not a welly in sight!

Live at Leeds 2016

We didn't have a strict schedule for the day, the only bands that were MUST sees were Mystery Jets and We Are Scientists. The rest of the day was up for discussion. Usually when this happens you end up not catching many bands at all but I'm please to say on top of the must sees, we also watched: Spring King, The Sherlocks, Blossoms and Blood Red Shoes. A big shout out to Blood Red Shoes who have become one of my new favourite listens on Spotify. I was so impressed with their energy, little late to the party on this one but I always say better late than never. I've been a We Are Scientists fan for years, so you might of seen me singing my heart out in Leeds Uni 'I've been hit, I've been hit. I've been HIT.'
The main thing to keep in mind about this festival is the venue locations. These are spread out across the city, so you need to give yourselves enough time to make it over with time for potential queues. I know that I'll be going again next year, there is too much fun to be had and so many amazing bands to discover. Have you been to a city based festival?
