This weekend I attended a blogging event. It's great to have an excuse to get together. While I was there lots of other bloggers were deciding to help each other out and take some outfit shots for each others blogs. I was thinking of skipping this opportunity (we don't often get this chance) as I wasn't wearing anything new. With a little encouragement from my fellow bloggers, I decided to get involved.

There is so much pressure to have something new to show the world, especially in the age of social media. Ever had the thought 'oh I can't wear that, there is a picture of me on Facebook wearing it 2 months ago.' Me too. I've been there.
There is a real pressure to just have 'stuff'. As a fashion blogger it only gets worse as you think 'why would someone want to see this again?' Especially if it's old and your readers are unable to buy it anymore. I've come to the realisation that we shouldn't live in such a throw away culture. If you like something and you feel confident wearing it then why not have lots of pictures of you in it? Also you may spark inspiration with your outfit, someone could re-discover a piece and fall in love with it again. I'm going to be writing a post about how to make the most of your wardrobe soon, so watch this space.

For me this leather jacket symbolises exactly that. It's a classic piece that I won't be getting rid of. You can team it with jeans, dresses, skirts and as you can see here; playsuits. I feel good wearing it and it finishes off an outfit perfectly. the classic black leather jacket is something I believe everyone should have in their wardrobe.

Do you have anything you put on and feel instantly 'put together?'

  1. And you look absolutely babin' - I often recycle old clothes and try wearing them in different ways too. You look so happy & confident and that's what matters!

  2. I know exactly what you mean - since starting to do some fashion posts I feel so much pressure to buy new things (even when I know I can't afford them!)

You look gorgeous in these pictures - so confident! I love the hat and boots x

  3. Definitely agree and can relate. It is kind of why I only do an outfit post a week, which will more than likely become an outfit a month shortly, as as well as me ALWAYS wearing jeans, I am slowly running out both clothes and more so money to purchase new ones! lol
I said on a similar post that I was trying to recycle clothes and as Bee said, wear them differently. I've never been one to really experiment with my style, so I'm trying to step out of my comfort zone, which is going Ok at the moment. :)
You look beaut and this is a fab outfit.. Those boots are amazing!! :) it was lovely to see you.

  4. That kind of event sounds like such a shallow way to spend a day. Nobody who matters cares how many times they see you in the same outfit. It makes absolutely zero difference to the world. If you're going to be fashion blogger, stand out from the crowd.

  5. You look stunning! I always have this debate about wearing something twice, especially when it's being photographed, but now I have a mortgage I really have to get over this silliness!!!
