This weekend I attended a blogging event. It’s great to have an excuse to get together. While I was there lots of other bloggers were deciding to help each other out and take some outfit shots for each others blogs. I was thinking of skipping this opportunity (we don’t often get this chance) as I wasn’t wearing anything new. With a little encouragement from my fellow bloggers, I decided to get involved.
There is so much pressure to have something new to show the world, especially in the age of social media. Ever had the thought ‘oh I can’t wear that, there is a picture of me on Facebook wearing it 2 months ago.’ Me too. I’ve been there.
There is a real pressure to just have ‘stuff’. As a fashion blogger it only gets worse as you think ‘why would someone want to see this again?’ Especially if it’s old and your readers are unable to buy it anymore. I’ve come to the realisation that we shouldn’t live in such a throw away culture. If you like something and you feel confident wearing it then why not have lots of pictures of you in it? Also you may spark inspiration with your outfit, someone could re-discover a piece and fall in love with it again. I’m going to be writing a post about how to make the most of your wardrobe soon, so watch this space.
For me this leather jacket symbolises exactly that. It’s a classic piece that I won’t be getting rid of. You can team it with jeans, dresses, skirts and as you can see here; playsuits. I feel good wearing it and it finishes off an outfit perfectly. the classic black leather jacket is something I believe everyone should have in their wardrobe.
Do you have anything you put on and feel instantly ‘put together?’
