How To Create The Perfect Hotel Style Bathroom

How To Create The Perfect Hotel Style Bathroom

My bathroom is my sanctuary. I get ready for the day ahead in there, take a shower if I've had a stressful one and get ready for a night out. Something I've noticed when staying away for work is the way bathrooms are styled in luxury hotels. There is something about a good bathroom that steps up your overall experience.

Victoria Plum asked me how I step up my bathroom game, especially when you have guests staying over. I want them to feel like it's a home away from home. They have given me inspiration by talking about their top 5 hotel bathrooms from around the world. Here are my top 5 tips for creating that hotel style bathroom look...

1. Candles

A sure fire way to make sure your bathroom has the hotel treatment is to fill the room with an amazing scent. I do this with candles, I've for this amazing one from Jo Malone in Pomegranate Noir which doesn't even need to be burning for you to be able to smell it.

A bar of soap on the side of the sink isn't going to fly in this situation. I love my hand wash and lotion from Neom, they make my sink look a lot more stylish. Guests will be impressed too.

3. Art

This is something that is always forgotten in your average residential bathroom. ART! I always see some great art in hotel bathrooms, so I thought I'd add a little something to mine. I loved this print as it reminded me of the sea. It's simple but effective. I decide to layer up with another print in front, I love this one. Maybe a talking point for guests too?

4. Towels

A threadbare towel hanging on the towel rail - NO! You need to pick some seriously stylish towels if you are going to impress your guests and take your bathroom to the next level. I love these linen ones I picked up, they looks really nice hanging in the bathroom and are a step up from your average towel.

5. Small Toiletries

If you want to truly pass the hotel style bathroom test you will need some impressive toiletries for your guests to use. I have lots of these brilliant minis from Malin and Goetz (sold in Space NK). Leaving these out for guests will mean you have hit peak hotel style bathroom levels. They'll never want to leave...
