An iPhone Photo Diary Of Tignes

Last week I traveled over to Tignes in the French Alps for a work trip. It just so happened that it was one of the most photogenic places I've ever been to. I just couldn't help snapping pictures of everything. I thought I'd share my iPhone pictures with you all.

We stayed in the fabulous Hotel Les Suites Maison Bouvier which is everything you want in ski-hotel. The alpine-style chalet interiors were to die for. Each room was really individual and added to the hotels charm. Also, I couldn't write about the hotel without giving a shout out to the hotel's dog, Igloo. The giant St Bernard was always there to greet visitors, such a lovely touch.

We ventured up to the Glacier Grande Motte which was THE place to go for views over the alps. This is something you cannot miss if you visit. You can take the funicular up to the first stage, where you will find the restaurant and bar Le Panoramic. Stop here for a hot chocolate and chocolate chip cookies to dip in. You can then take the cable car up to the very top which is 11338ft above sea level.

While you are in the area I would also recommend popping over to Val D'isere and trying La Casserole. You just have to have the fondue!

A walk around the Lac du Tignes is a great way to spend the afternoon, finishing off at the other side with a glass of rose. In the depths of winter this lake is completely frozen over and you can ski across it.
Passing Lac du Chevril I've got a fun fact for you, the old Tignes lies beneath the water. The town was flooded in 1952 when the French built the  hydroelectric dam. There are times when the lake is drained and you can see what remains of old Tignes.
