As part of my challenge to better myself this year, I want to get serious about getting back into literature. I seriously failed at this last year, there was always something else I could fill my time with. I also want to read more books by female authors, so I made a little list of books I want to tackle this year.
I’ve listed 9 that I want to read here mainly to document how I’m getting on up to my 30th in September. I’m hoping that reading will become a habit and it will just be a part of my everyday life again.
I’ve had this post planned for a while, because I knew I wanted to shoot in the Waterstones store in Bradford. How beautiful is it? Massive thanks to Waterstones for letting me shoot here on a cold Sunday morning. The snow actually meant it was really quiet in the store, so it was perfect for shooting.
I knew I wanted to kick off the year by reading Lullaby by Leila Slimani. I can’t recommend this book enough, it grips you from the first sentence to the last. Yes, Ive only finished one of the books on my list so far so I’m actually behind already. I’m determined to catch up though, so I’m moving on to book two very quickly.
Other books I want to read this year are: Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton, The Sun and Her Flowers by Rupi Kaur, The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath (I know I’ve never read it shock horror!), Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman, The Power by Naomi Alderman, I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou, Three Things About Elsie by Joanna Cannon, and The Vanity Fair Diaries by Tina Brown.
I’d love to hear about what you’re reading at the moment, I’m looking to add to my list! Please leave a comment below…
